What is a comprehensive eye exam?
At Denville Family Eyecare, our comprehensive eye exams check your vision and the overall health of your eyes. At your eye exam, we will assess visual acuity, check for signs of diseases, and check for changes in prescription. Testing will be done to check the pressures in your eyes, visual field test, and optionally retinal imaging. Retinal imaging is a non-dilated photo of the retina, and it allows our doctors to examine the optic nerve, blood vessels, and macula. It screens for cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and any overall retinal concerns.
What to bring to my exam?
If you are a new patient to our office, please bring ALL of your previous glasses, so that our technicians can determine what prescription you are currently wearing. Alternatively, you can bring a copy of your most recent eyeglass prescription. If you are a contact lens wearer, please bring or have the information on which brand of contacts you are currently wearing, the type of contacts (daily, biweekly, monthly), and the most up-to-date contact lens prescription info. Be sure to bring your most recent insurance cards so the front desk can have that information on file!
Do you see pediatric patients?
Yes! We believe regular pediatric eye exams are important, and we love helping our little friends pick out new glasses. Your child's vision plays a key role in their development and learning. Our team is committed to making it a calm, relaxed, and comfortable experience. Typically, we will see patients ages 2 and up.
How long will my exam take?
At Denville Family Eyecare, we take pride in keeping an organized, on-time schedule. We typically recommend allotting 45 minutes to an hour for your eye exam.
